EXTENDED BIO

Chris Hunt is a writer, artist, and creator of Code of the West. His career spans comics, illustration, art direction, and brand building. His work concerns the choices that shape a person’s life and the standards that allow people to count on one another.

As a boy, Hunt was told by his first-grade teacher that he would never learn to read. He learned early that he could choose whether to accept someone else’s verdict about who he was. He went on to make words and drawings the center of his working life.

Code of the West grew from a personal drawing project into a body of writing, art, and conversation about how to live. Its values are familiar: courage, responsibility, dignity, loyalty, gratitude, and keeping your word. Hunt’s concern is what it takes to live by them, especially when circumstances make that difficult.

His full-color book, The Code of the West: A Frontier Guide to Modern Living, distills a code he spent a lifetime living and refining. It begins with ten tenets and goes beneath them into purpose, resilience, identity, community, and practice. Published by Andrews McMeel in September 2026, it invites readers to consider who they choose to become and what they owe the people around them.

Hunt lives in Idaho, where he continues to write, draw, and develop Code of the West.
